Default Speedometer tech question 2014 FX4

This has me stumped. The speedo needle freezes at random speeds. Here is what i have done for troubleshooting:

Entered engineering mode on the cluster
- needle sweeps normally on gauge test
- digital speedometer displays normally when driving

Tested odometer against GPS, it is accumulating miles normally.

Given the normal operation in engineering mode, I dont beleive it is a speed sensor issue. Is there anything else I can test/reset to fix this? Do I need a new cluster?

Some models had a warped faceplace inside the cluster that would cause the needle to stick.

I would suspect a physical issue as well with the way it's behaving, but it doesn't catch at the same points. Sometimes it gets stuck at 5mph, sometimes as high as 60. It's totally random.

Last night I plugged in and retrieved DTC codes from forscan. Nothing came up regarding instrument cluster. Only a couple of HVAC codes (which explains another issue. Sounds like I get to scratch up my arms and dig deep into the dash).

You could take it to Ford and have them do a cluster test. May need a new cluster or speed sensor which I think is in the transmission lead frame.

You can tell the gauges with ForScan.
