The stock speakers, even the premium speakers, aren't very good. They're fine for most people but if you're looking at this thread, you know it can be better. How much better is up to your wallet. Upgrading speakers is a good start. Most aftermarket speakers will give you better sound. The RF 1682 works well with the stock head unit and can handle max volume w/o distorting in my truck. Some might want more and that's when you need to add amps and bigger subs.

Here's a comparison of the stock and RF speakers.

Which speakers would you reccomend for our trucks? Sony premium system with nav... R1682 or P1683? I am not amplifying them right now but I may in the future. I also see people using Boston Acoustics SR80 with great results.

Bump for this thread. I'm in the same boat, no plans to amp and keeping factory HU with sync, but don't want muddy or distorted sound when I turn the dial past half volume. I've read of some people happy with Polk audio speakers as well. Any other suggestions or things I should look for?

I have pioneers, and I also had no plans to amp. And i was fine with it for awhile. They were clearer, but still distorted at 1/2 volume, for my truck anyway. I ended up amping them after about 7-8 months. Not trying to sway you! Haha! But with the PAC adapter, you retain sync.

PAC-AOEMFRD24 i believe is the part number

Found a great price on these speakers and I like what you have to say about them. Did these just bolt right into the 5x7 location in the rear? Thanks!

You should've tried the Rockford Fosgates. No distortion at 100% volume.

Hi Guys.....I went to my Local Future Shop, my stereo and TV guy opened my eyes to something......they have a display with stock speakers, hooked to an amp and played it both ways, it was amazing the difference, but mind you they still don't sound as good as the Infinity's I had and thats going into this truck.

Ive always had amps since I was 16 and Im 50 now even back then we had the Hot Motorola 8 track and EQ....lol...but an amp makes a huge difference on stock is my point!!.......incase your on a budget do the amp first or go online and find some good deals.

Im putting in 2 Alpine amps under the buckets and Custom made Sub Box under the rear seat and 12" sub, and changing ou the door speakers

I Need HELP..the 2012 F150's do you know if the speaker grill's pop off, or do you still have to take the door panel's off on all 4 doors......??
I read they come off.......just want to know from someone who has actually done it.....

Thanks

Grandpa's Grocery Getter!!
