Default Speaker cut off .... FIX

Ok, had 3 speakers not working. 2 in back never worked since I put new ones in with adapters from crutchfield. Same with the front drivers. Today I removed the back door covers and replace the present Pioneers with the stock Sonys with no adapters... they work!!!!!! Took the pioneers and put them on the shelf, sons will do in the back. Fronts, I have Bostons in the front, they are hard wired, no adapters. Cleaned up the connection, and drivers side is working too. So, if you are having the same problems, which I know a lot of you are, check the adapters and connections. The pins on the back were the culprits. 2010 Lariat with Sony and Nav.

Pins for what?

I've run Infinity Kappas front and rear with adapters for years with no issues.

Had the same issue. Installed Hertz Coax in the rear and Components in front with the plug adapters. Worked great for a while then a few months later the rears started cutting in and out. Ended up just taking them out until a few months ago the front drivers door started doing the same. Put the factory speaker back in and still had issues. The factory plug just didn't have a good enough connection that can wear down overtime. Cutting the factory plug off solves the problem permanently.

Yep - I had the same problem with my Infinity Kappas. Pulled and cleaned the connections in the adapter and the factory connector and resolved. Next time one drops out I'll be going hard-wire to the speaker.

Did you guys use dielectric grease during install? Door speakers get moisture in them which corrodes the connections.

I did this last time, but not on the original install.

No, I found no condensation on the OEM connectors, only in the crutchfield ones. If it happens again, I will use marine type connectors.

The pins in the crutchfield adapters were lose in the plastic male part of the adapter. If you wiggled the wire, speaker would cut in and out. I would use a marine type connector with a squeeze connection next time. They work great on my boat, which sees only salt water use.
