It seems to me however that when the volume reaches the halfway point to max volume it doenst get any louder at all, but its still plenty loud! Anyone else noticed this phenomenon?

750w? How big is the power wire going to it?

Just wondering, because from what I've seen in the past, factory amplifiers are always supplied with under-sized power wires.

The stock sony is 700watts but I'm strongly suspecting that is NOT RMS. The factory sony system sounds fine, has decent highs and mids, at low volume the bass is acceptable.

For a "premium" system it pales by comparison. The old Shaker systems really sounded great, the Boston Acoustics stock system in my wife's 08 Avenger sounds worlds better than mine, BUT.. It's acceptable and significantly better than the stock system.

For $435, the cost of the upgrade, compared to the work and potential extra money/lost storage space of an aftermarket it is a suitable solution and decent value.

I've considered upgrading just the woofer on my factory Sony system as I have the sub and amp laying around, would only need a box, but haven't bothered yet.

From everything I've read, I'm pretty sure it's an 8".

I really love the Sony in my 2010. My past 2 trucks were Silverado's with the "BLOSE". Those units were terrible and I gutted both and put in after market.
