Some sales people just don't get it
I specifically didn't put the rep's name in the email, because I don't believe a slip in judgement should cost anyone their job. I do believe that the issue needs to be addressed. Below is the email I sent tonight to Waxahachie Autoplex. The situation should be self explanitory.
This evening I drove by your dealership and noticed an F150 I was interested in. I called to inquire about the vehicle and was shocked when one of your sales people used curse words in general conversation. There is no reason to use the F word or SH**, and especially not when one is inquiring about a $56,000 vehicle. It should also be noted that the phone was on speaker, and my child heard the entire conversation. I had purchased my previous truck at your dealership, and appreciated the level of professionalism. It would appear that the level of professionalism has gone downhill since I purchased my vehicle three years ago. I hope that in the future, if I do speak with your dealership, that there is a higher level of respect toward customers.
The vehicle (not that it matters, but it was pretty sweet looking) was a lifted platty.

0.9% is for suckers!
What's the price threshold for cursing? $20k?
Price isn't relevant. It's all units to them. $15k or $65k is all the same when it's $40-50m in inventory on the lot. One sale won't change anyone's life.

Retired and loving it!
Well, I'll weigh in here. I really hope that you DID mention the salesperson's name in your missive to the dealer. There is NO excuse for using that kind of language anywhere in the workplace, much less to a person that you have not even met yet and are only talking with on the phone.
That person's sales career needs to be cut short in a hurry. If I were the sales manager, that would be a VERY short conversation with the salesperson, followed by his heading out the door.
There are too many people who are polite, willing to be trained, and still looking for a job to put up with that even once.

Let me address a few things.
First, it was a sweet *** truck.
Second, While I agree price shouldn't matter I would argue that there is potentially a difference between someone buying a 56k vehicle vs a 15k. Example. Most teenagers (especially in this part of town) wouldn't buy a 56k vehicle, and are ok with cursing as a part of daily life.
It just bothered me that someone that doesn't know me would speak to me in that manner. More than anything though, I didn't need my kid hearing that.
I really and truly wasn't outraged enough to get this guy fired. I don't want that on my conscience for something boneheaded. I just want the management to know and address the situation to all sales people.

My wife and I went to a local dealership with the intention of purchasing a new car if we could agree on a price with the dealership. We had a price in mind before going because we could purchase the same vehicle with the same options and colors for a lower price at another dealership without haggling. We test drove the car with out 1 year old son while the salesman waited at the dealership and my wife told him before the test drive that we weren't paying the sticker price. We drove the car about 10 miles and came back. When I told the salesman the price I wanted it for which was only $2500 off the sticker price he told me that there's no way that was happening and got mad at me. I told him that I could purchase the same car at another dealership for less and they'd bring it to my house, do the paperwork at my house, and drive away with the trade-in. That's when the salesman started yelling at my wife and I and cussing at us. We got up and walked out with our son and the salesman followed us out the door. He started yelling some more telling me how I wasted his f***ing time and caused him to lose money on other sales. He processed to yell the entire time we were putting the car seat back in our car and leaving. The salesman was in his mid 60's and a retired school teacher. He didn't know that my friends dad is the general manager of the dealership so I sent him an email. My friends dad called me multiple times and apologized and then made the salesman apologize to me. They told me that if I wanted the car I could have it for the price that I wanted, but I told them both I'd never give that dealership another penny as long as that salesman worked there.
