So I updated the software in my 2013 F-150 and now my navigation is gone. WTF???

Yeah and so did your 96, you just didn't know it. Fords vehicles have been computer controlled since the early 80's, much like all other makes.

Uh,,in the 17 yrs I owned it, it was never into a dealership, how was it updated? I know the computer controlled stuff, but it was basic stuff, timing advance, fuel mixture, ect.

 

and software is what is in the "computer" that controls it.

 

Maybe he's talking about the Sync update? I just did mine but i haven't had any problems. Did this about 2 months ago.

 

The only difference is Ford is now giving the end user a way to interact with it, the very reason you hate technology is what you crave and desire, a system that just works with no human interaction = you are more dependent on gov doing things for you instead of taking your head out your *** and doing it alone.

if you have synch in your truck and log into the owner.ford.com website you find that periodically there will be a software update for you to install. Its pretty straight forward, but in this case it has sent me to left. field.

As for more info, I downloaded the update on to a memory stick and followed the steps . I watched my screen read from zero percent to 100 percent complete. The system did a reboot and my navigation screen is no longer available on the touch screen.
