Really torn on a new 150
My truck is still in trade worthy condition- fairly low KMs and in great shape. I have an opportunity to get a great trade value against a new Lariat. Problem is- I'm a little torn. The only thing that will make me trade would be the creature comforts. My '10 with the 5.4 has been a rock solid truck with more than enough muscle to do what I want and way more. Engine arguments don't hold any weight with me. EB isn't an option for me for my own reasons- not that I don't think it would be a potentially great engine- it's just not something I'm interested in. So I'd go 6.2L because that's the logical route for me to go for an upgrade to the 5.4L.
Has the extra cash you put out been worth it for the goodies? I've already installed seat heaters, better sound system/ nav, etc.
Just looking for some opinions. Mines an XLT now- but I've trimmed it the way I like, but the clean look of that Lariat is really appealing but its a big chunk of money.

My opinion is wait. The F150 is going to see big changes for 2015. Have you seen the F150 Atlas concept? Google the recent Detroit auto show and there should be pics of the truck. Rumor has it that the 2015 will be very much like, if not identical, to the concept truck. The styling and technology in that truck will set Dodge and GM reeling. Check it out. It is very cool. In the meantime, enjoy your 5.4 and personal touches that's made it "yours."

I was in a similar situation as yourself. I had an '09 5.4 FX4 with a 2'' leveling kit, air bags, spray in liner, custom wheels, 33'' tires, tonneau cover, you get the picture. It was a nice truck. And the 5.4 met my power needs.
My issue fuel economy. 95% of my driving is on the highway, and the bigger tires and leveling kit were not doing anything good for fuel economy. For the small amount of time I spent bombing down muddy lease roads it wasn't worth it. And it sucked putting in half a tank every three days.
So after thinking it over for months, test driving Eco's and 5.0's, I made the tough call to let my beast go to the used lot and I got a 2012 FX4 5.0 with the creature comforts you speak of.
My fuel economy did improve a wee bit. We'll see how much so after the break in period. Until then I can't say if I regret trading in my beast, but at times I do miss it and in all honesty if I did it over again I may have kept it simply because of what a mean machine it was and I had a lot put into it. I'm not sure if the amount of $$$ I'm saving in fuel was worth it.
Now, I'm not unhappy with my new F-150, as I really do love it! It's a comfortable ride, tons of power, and is a pleasure to drive and that's good because my commute to work is 30 miles one way!

Damn, that Atlas is a nice truck! Thanks for the input- I'm going to hold tough. If it doesn't come out looking similar, there's nothing stopping me from grabbing a '14 at a likely "reduced to sell" price

I think that is a smart move smurfs. As a fellow Saskatchewan native, born in Eston, I think thats what I would do. I traded my 2009 5.4 on a 2012 EB. I love the power and creature comfort upgrades but in a year or two I will want the next great thing. It just doesnt make economic sense to keep doing it. I need help!

Nothing like trading a nearly new truck ( or insert vehichle here) for another truck.
Money dont grow on trees....and you have personelized your truck to your taste.
09-12 or 13. They dont look much different. Unless your looking to go up a few trim levels, or need a change of engine.
Take it how you want but i would keep what you have and enjoy it

If you have the funds and want it, do it. You are only coming around this place once.

You're right though- financially, it makes WAY more sense to keep mine. It was just one if those once-in-a-blue-moon kind of offers and I needed opinions to sway me one way or another because I was really on the fence. Plus- I'm horribly cheap- and that Scotch side of me was really screaming
