I LOVE my Coyote. But I've also seen waaaaay too many videos and heard too many stories of them having knocking issues. I love this F150 platform and I've found something I really like and something I can live with for a while. (I used to be the guy that was buying\trading to different vehicles every 2-3 years) Now that I've found something I can live with for a long time, I really don't want to worry about major engine repair. I work at a dealer and as much as I like them, I've lost a lot of faith on the 5.0.
The 6.2 on the other hand, seems to be almost flawless. some of them, especially earlier Super Duty versions had issues with valve springs, but aside from that they seem to be a very well built design. And aside from the dual plug setup, they are a very simplistic engine and based on a design that's been around for 30 years now. Sohc mod motors are practically bulletproof.
There are 6.2 trucks out there to be had. I actually found one about 2 weeks ago a little more than 3 hours away from me, and it was basically perfect. It had literally EVERY option I wanted. But it was a Canada truck from Newfoundland and looking at warranty history, was already showing signs of being a rust bucket. After reading that, I didn't even drive up to look at it.
Because I am so set on a 6.2L as well as keeping the truck long term, I am seriously starting to consider an F250. An optioned up gas motor super duty is still a rare beast, but no where near as rare as a 6.2L F150 crew cab 6.5' bed. I feel like a 6.2 F250 would probably last me for the rest of my vehicle owning life, but if gas prices start going back up, I am gonna be a hurting pup for sure.

^ Another reason I'm hesitant to jump into an 18. With 39,500 miles on my 5.0 so far, it doesn't knock or tick or do anything except rev fast and run perfect.

Maybe oil changes every 3,500 have helped or I just got a good one.
