I agree. From the outside of the scab, the back looks deceivingly small, but there's actually a ton of room back there

Yes....that was my distinct recollection too; although I was not sure about the 12's?
I remembered, after I bought my '09, the new brochure for the 10's featuring enhanced brakes; but I did not see or recall that with the 11's.
