where have you guys been? Tailgates have been getting ripped off since they started putting them on trucks.

It may not be a popular sport in some areas, but in texas where there are 400-500 F150s on every dealer lot and Mexico in your backyard, its always been the case.

Check Craigslist. Cause thats where yours is.

Would be a good idea to put a small hidden feature on it somewhere that would allow you to ID yours when buying back from a potential thief.

Yeah, I agree with most people that if you look on CL you'll find yours there in a week or two. I put the tailgate actuator on the tailgate to lock with the key fob just to help... but if someone wants in they'll always get in. Wouldn't take anything to just knock the window out and press the unlock button - but it does give a little peace of mind from *most* crooks. Best of luck.

Especially since it's a 2012 AND your insurance company is paying for a replacement, you NEED to purchase a new one.
I cannot believe one could not get all the replacement parts at the dealer.
Manufacturers are required BY LAW to maintain spare parts supplies for vehicles something like 10 years after they cease producing said vehicle(s).
Again, since your insurance company is paying to replace it, why not just roll into your local dealer's bodyshop and have them take care of it?
You won't need to leave your truck there while they source the parts and put it together, so just a quick trip back down there when they're done to have 'em throw it on, and bingo boffo..You're DONE.

What's a tailgate?

I'm kidding. I removed mine off my truck as it was beat beyond use

(I have an older truck)

Don't know what this is. Pictures?
Where does the masterlock tailgate lock go? Pictures?
OK off to google images to see if I can answer my own questions.

Great idea, I think I'll go out to the garage and beat the **** out of mine with a hammer, so no one will steal it
