Thieves will steal anything they can! At our dealership last year a couple of azzhats decided to steal some off our lot trucks. They got 5 loaded up before the cops eating across the street slipped over and busted them. They CUT the wires on the truck side of the plug instead of simply unplugging them.

A couple of years ago our used car lot got several sets of tire/wheel combos taken off some trucks.Well within a week the cops noticed the exact sets of tires and wheels listed on craigslist for sale within 5 miles of our dealership.

About 25-28 yrs ago we kept missing a car or truck ever-so often.A chop shop ended up getting busted about 1 block away.

I'm guessing there's cheap rent in that neighborhood.

That would be negative! The dude that stole the tires and wheels lived in a $600k plus home, and the Nice home and shop a block down was on about 5 acres that was well worth over 1 mill.Hell,i guess they had to make a good living to pay for their places.

Found a picture of hose clamp solution. What a simple slow down for the spontaneous amateur tailgate thief. I love browsing this forum. Always something useful comes up with a little reading.

A lot of the tacoma guys on TacomaWorld.com put one of those metal hose clamps that you tighten with a philips head or nut driver around the pivot point where it disconnects. if the thief brought a tool hit with him he could still get it but will stop most of em. at least it would take the thief longer and have more chance of getting caught.
