SnugTop owners! Let me see em'!!!

Heat Miser
I bought a SnugTop Super Sport today, and with tax(I bought it in fricken LA County, so I paid 9.25% IIRC) it was a little over $2600 installed, OTD.
Going off that, I would think the deal you got was pretty good. As far as I know, the XTR is a Super Sport with the funky roof and grab-bars/racks, thus should be a couple 2-3 hundred more.
While they were installing mine, I ran across the XTR in the brochure and asked about it. Of course since they didn't have it, dude told me they don't make 'em for the late-model F150-this while I'm looking at a pic of one on a '09-'10 F150 in said brochure. Gotta love sales-schmeisers.. I personally don't like the way they look, and am hoping to get an increase in fuel mileage(my extensive aerodynamic knowledge tells me the rails and other-than-flat roof on the XTR results in obstructed air flow over the top of the shell) so the XTR wasn't on my radar anyway, but I don't like being lied to nonetheless.
The Rebel that I had on my Chevy(posted earlier in the thread) was initially what I was after, but after lazily looking for one for several months, my procrastinating nature precluded me from simply ordering one way back when, so after calling around for the umpteenth time and only finding ONE SnugTop in stock in my color and bed-size within 100 miles of me-and the sole option being a Super Sport, I decided to say ****-it, and pull the trigger.
The Rebel cost me about a grand less than the Super Sport, and despite the SS having a better lock, headliner(although I coulda swore my Rebel had one as well), and an LED interior light that gives you the option of it turning on when the door is opened(the Rebel's simply has an on/off switch), I personally don't see another $1000.00 is value.
Although looking at it on my truck, I can even tell(as my wife likes to point out, I'm not a 'Noticer'-one who 'notices') it looks much better than the Rebel would. Obviously the big(er) frame-less(IIRC) side windows play a large part in this.
Like with the Rebel, I ordered a carpet kit for it, which should be in by Tuesday.
Carpet kit shown was in the Chv.:

As far as comparing SnugTop to other brands is concerned, ST has long had the reputation of being the best made shell in the industry.
The dealer I bought the Rebel from was also a Leer and AFE dealer, and I had then place both a Leer and an AFE on my truck at the time so I could compare 'em aesthetically. I remember one or both of 'em still having the old-school metal-framed rear window with the twin outboard locks, along with a crappy finish job in the channel(s) where the rear window frame's edges sit when it's closed, and neither of 'em fit as well on my bed as the SnugTop did.
I don't doubt for a second that many Leer and AFE owners have shells that fit their truck just as well as mine does, and who like their shell(s) just as much as I do, but after [now] owning two SnugTop's, I'm completely sold on the brand as a whole

I think this is a Leer. There is no name on it. The third light is 10 inches long.
The rear window has been replaced with Lexan, I've been looking around for a replacement but they are pricey.

I picked up a Rebel yesterday. Thanks to the guys at Ventura Camper Center for working through rainy conditions. So far, I am happy with the build quality fit, and appearance.

Snutop Rebel Shell, Windoors, Yakima Rack, Cabelas Cargo Rack turned around backwards to match the flow of the rear shell. Will never buy anything from Snugtop ever again! This is the second shell they made me in 4 months and screwed this one up also. Sorry Snugtop I gave you every opportunity to respond to my emails, and calls to customer service to just get an explanation of what went wrong. It looks to me like a total meltdown in production management, managing sales orders, scheduling, and the so called "Customer Service guy Silvano" said to me you cant visit us here at the plant to go over the color match we are in a small room somewhere you would never find us so send us your gas cap lid to match the color.
We were planning on promoting Snugtop at the Outdoor events we sponsor but this is about as far as we will go with both of the terrible experiences with had with this company. I would recommend getting an A.R.E. camper or a LEER.
If someone at their company cared to return my calls or emails I wouldn't be posting this

Yeah Mike d, its actually an unbelievable story...or I should say "Stories" because it happened twice! Snugtops marketing specialist Thomas McGurvey emailed me to contact him for a special deal for Outdoor Industry Professionals and I believe he's to embarrassed to return my email.
I will be posting the whole experience with pictures from both the events starting with my original "First Rebel Snugtop Shell" I ordered from Norco Camper sitting there on my Birthday for 7 hours only to have it end in disaster including the wrong Bed-Rug they were trying to put in, up to this second shell they built wrong and would not answer any of my questions, return emails or calls.
In all my years I have never seen a company run like that?
Stay tuned I will post the stories when I get a chance... its gonna be a good read at my expense.
