Default Smittybilt M1 Mesh Grille Installed

Just installed my Smittybilt M1 grille. I liked the construction of the grille, it was actually 2 pieces held together with all of the chrome bolts. The installation wasn't that hard, the only bad part was taking a sawzall to my factory grille The grille came with terrible instructions though. I would definitely recommend using the instructions on http://www.grillcraft.com/installs/i...install_id=249 (Lol) for their mesh grille install, it is a different grille, but the idea is similar. Overall it's a quality product. Now on to a few quick pictures.

Thanks guys ^^^ One of the local truck outfitters quoted me $178 to install it. If you have the tools and know-how i would recommend doing it yourself. I used a Sawzall to cut the old grille out, and an angle grinder to smooth all of the cuts. The whole process was a little nerve-racking though.

Looks awesome, do you think the M1 emblem would be hard to take off? I want the same grill I just want it without the emblem.

Not at all, it is literally just two nuts on the backside and you would never know it was there.

Hey man I'm installing a m1 on my 2013 fx4 and having trouble getting the corners tight. Just wondering if you had the same problems or any tips or tricks. Thanks Scott

I just bought my F-150 FX4 Ecoboost, and this is one of the first mods I wanted to do. I went to the closest dealer and picked up the M1 grille. I wanted the RBP, but GEEEZ they are proud of them. I tried to install this M1 and it just would not fit at all the bottom two corners. The nuts on the back of the cosmetic "bolts" fits the grille shell and will not go inside to allow it too sit flush. Thinking I had a bad grille, I took it back and got a replacement only to find out today the same thing!!! It just will not fit!! I am at wits end and dont know what to do now, because I have cut out my factory grille and now have this half installed thing they call a grille on my truck. I sent pics and such to Smittybilt with little results. I am either going to have to alter the grille shell itself to make it fit, or take it back and spend the big money and get the RBP. Dont know what to do. If any of you have ran into something similar, please let me know.

^ ^ This experience and reading that you have to destroy your factory grill FIRST doesn't
sit well with me in a product. You could end up with your butt exposed.
