I had this issue with my truck, all I did was fire her up, put the a/c on max recirc and spray Lysol disinfectant into the air intake under the glove box, then switched to fresh air and sprayed more into the outside air intake on the passenger side, bottom of windshield, the stink has not returned.

Me too. Although I never bothered with the external intake. Still hasn't come back all summer. If/when it does, I still have Lysol.

Also, asking a question of a two year old thread probably won't get an answer, tagle.

Tried Lysol when it first started to smell. If the evaporators leaking Lysol isn't going to fix it. That smell is probably your drain getting a little clogged and not letting all the condensation out. This may be the early signs of evaporator failure. What does the age of the thread have to do with anything? It revisits the topic.

There seem to be 2 causes of this smell, and the smell may be identical. One is a leaking evap, the other is the fact that this evap does not drain very well. If it is leaking, it needs to be replaced. This could likely be diagnosed by the smell and repeated loss of refrigerant. If it is just not draining, unclogging the drain may help, and Lysol or similar should also prevent growth for awhile.

Bringing up a topic is just fine. You asked a question of people already in the thread from long ago. That will likely not get answered.

Yes the causes of the smell may be different but its probably an early indicator that your evaporator drain needs to be cleaned. My first sign was the moldy, musty smell which might have been what caused the corrosion on the evaporator leading to the leak which now smells like a box of band aids. That smell is the compressor oil leaking into the evap case.
I bring up threads all the time. Sometimes people have updates and forget to post. I know i get emails from my old posts. It doesn't bother me to revisit a thread if it can help someone else.

Seriously, DUDE, that is not what I said.

Whatever, I'm going to GTFO. Won't even open this train wreck of a conversation again. Have fun.
