Whoo! Probably a lot of butts have been in those seats by now. Who knows what little gifts those butts deposited? You're a very brave person to put your nose down there.

You sir, are a life saver. Thanks for the fast responses and the helpful info! Going to ford dealership in the morning to get new filters, and try and find some seat cleaner to get this butt smell out. My usual go to Meguiars leather cleaner did nothing.

Thanks Half Ton for the video as well.

Will report back tomorrow after filter swap and cleaning seats to let y'all know incase someone else experiences this.

Filter is NOT going to change any odors, especially a musty one. Sounds to me like there could be some water damage, possibly a flood damaged vehicle.

Mine has an odd smell to it as well but I wouldn't say its musty it is just the way the particular leather they used in the 9 10 platinums. Mine is the brown and black leather and it has always smelled a little different than any other truck ive owned. If you notice the king ranch trucks have a different odor because of the saddle leather.

Filters are cheap on amazon, but it does sound like you got a vehicle that had a third brake light or sat antenna leak, or the windows/sunroof left open and got soaked pretty good. It may be hard to get the smell out.

Here is a link to the filters on amazon.

Well the only thing is the smell isn't coming from the carpet in the front or rear, headliner, leather on the center console, or anything else that I put my nose up to, just the leather on
The seats for some reason.

My thoughts exactly..4 years of farting on those seats before you got the truck...you are one brave sole.

Couple of suggestions/thoughts ...
  1. use a leather cleaner/conditioner that has (for lack of a more betterer term) leather smell.
    .
  2. when replacing the filters, put a piece of a laundry dryer fabric softener sheet with them (scent of your choice). *thought being that the cushion foam is smell saturated.
