Small extension on bottom of tailgate
I have a small piece of metal that extends past my tailgate and slides into a hole on my truck bed and was just wondering what it is for? it rubs really bad on my bed and makes an awful noise and was just wondering if it's something i can just cut off? i can take a picture later if needed.

I'm pretty sure like someone said, another thread indicates it's a support for the bedstep.
