I was actually just looking at SCT last night. Seems like all arrows point to a tune! Card, thanks for the help bro! So after a tuner should you take it in for a custom tune or run what it's loaded with?

Red face

Just order an X3 or X4 from MPT, 5*, Lund, or Unleashed and tell them what needs to be changed in order to get the proper shift calibrations for the tires.

You're welcome man. You can adjust the canned tunes on the SCT. It just requires some knowledge and research.

The shifting and huge loss of power is not normal, sorry. Running a 3 inch level and 295/60/20 trail grapplers on my 2wd 5.0 and none of that happened. Hardly any power loss. What gears do you have? I have the 3:55s

3.55. My rims are extremely heavy, it's actually one of the reasons I almost didn't buy them. I kept my stock rims and tires for towing. Everything returns to normal when the donuts and stock rims go back on. I tend to agree with Card, it needs to be tuned. Thanks.

I had 20 inch fuel Mavericks before switching back to stock 20s on my trails. I promise you weight of rims won't make your truck behave that weird, although a tune will help shift points, I'm not gonna waste away my warranty on a tune

Any idea why it returns to normal when I put my stock setup back on then? Im leaning towards the tires and rims??? It's a shift lag more than a power loss. Anybody think that you can't set your tune back to stock if you need to take it in? Am I wrong?

There is a menu function on the xcal called, "return to stock". Just as i said before, the dramatically increase in rolling mass has a much more negative effect on your trucks performance than reflashing the PCM with the xcal. Just as some background, one of the dudes who founded SCT, was a Ford Power-train engineer. For some strange reason, well mostly due to the interwebz, there is a misnomer that a reflash causes adverse stress to the engine. Where this "theory" comes from is beyond me. Well, it comes from a lack of research and surplus of willful ignorance as there is always a guy who knows a guy whose uncle had exhaust tubing compression bent by a guy who swears he knows algorithms better than the guys who write it.

If you want to get a better idea of how the software effects the hardware, browse svtperformance.com and read some posts by Shaun@AED.

I had the same issue just like you when it came down to having an extended warranty on my truck and didn't want to void the warranty.. I finally did some research and came across Stage three performance and they offer two different power train warrantys with their tuner and tune work from 5 Star performance.. Do you research on this, theres a long forum on here over this warranty and a lot of people went this route. It will also cost you, but its nice to still have that peace of mind knowing your covered!
