Quite a few 5.5 bed campers out now. 22" COG

They are small in comparison. But doable with proper payload.

Is the maximum cargo weight different than the payload listed on the door jam? Mine payload is 2011# -- about 40% more than the MCW listed in your chart.

If your adventures are more about the trip than the destination, these things are a good option. Going forward, my adventures will be about the trip -- moving from attraction to attraction stopping just long enough to enjoy the sights. A slide in is easier to park and easier to drive, provides maximum flexibility camping. Some nights, I will camp in campgrounds, sometimes in parking lots -- sometimes I'll stay in a hotel. This is more of a better vehicle than a camper. At the other end, these get better mileage and are less expensive to own and operate than RVs.

Maximum on a Ford sheet means the maximum Ford might build. YOUR truck lists ITS maximum on the door sticker.

personally, I would like to have both options (and currently have neither).

I have a popup right now. It is very well appointed and has served us well. Lots of living space for a growing family. Pretty sure I could pull it while carrying a slide in.

my grandpa bought a 2018 platinum f350 screw last fall

bought it specifically to haul a camper

after all his payload research, the 350 was the best fit

Best payload is F350 XL SuperCab with 8' bed and gas engine. Diesel engine is very heavy.

My F250 has 3100 payload capacity on the door sticker, double-checked on the weigh scale, which will allow me to carry most medium weight slide-ins. Now if I just had the money to buy one...

The F350 regular cab duelly long box can carry over 6000 lbs. Now that's a beauty!

I am curious how everyone is using slide in campers in their F150's. Most have a maximum payload of between 1600 to 1800. Mine just happens to be 1800. The lightest campers I can find are around 1500 dry. Add all of your stuff in there and that is probably another 200lbs. Add passengers of a family of 4 and that would be around 600lbs conservatively. So a minimum you would be around 2300 hundred or so. Exceeding you payload easily? I must be missing something. You can't even pull a boat if you have a slide in camper without exceeding the ratings.
