Default Skid signal!

Hey guys! New to the forum. I own a 2009 f150 fx4 with 28000 miles on it. Just today I turned left twice and the skid signal came on my led board both times. It hasn't done it since. Anybody know what could possibly be wrong? Thanks guys!

Skid signal? You mean the traction control? It will come on, when you lose traction, to stop you from skidding.

That's what I meant....sorry, had a brain lapse for a minute. I wasn't losing traction when the traction control light came on. I was just simply turning left. Don't know what happened. Thanks for the reply!!

Haha! Is the truck new to you or are you the orig owner?Only thing I can think of is, that you just lost traction. Mine comes on sometimes when I take off from a stop, and there's sand on the road. That's all I got though

Sounds like you need the TSB performed at the dealer for this. I dont know the number off the top of my head BUt this senerio happens when towing a trailer and making turns (this is what the TSB says...but seems to occur to certain trucks even when not towing) I have 35 inch tires and can cause this senerio to happen...when i make a turn and there is a slight bump in the road, the TC engages. Its a PITA.

Guy!! Thanks so much for the responses! I've got 35's as well on my truck as well. Maybe I hit some gravel! Like I said I've driven it twice since it happened and it hadn't happened again. I'll just keep an eye on it. Thanks again!

No sweat! Also..If you go back to the dealer to get the TSB done...you might want to consider putting back your stock twheels and tires for it, b/c certain dealers might give you a stink about having the larger tires and not wantto do the TSB. Withthe stock tires and wheels you can jsut tell them that when you tow , you are getting those symptoms...and they will perform the TSB. this is why i havent brought mine in yet, b/c i dont feel like lugging off the 35's to put the stockers back on.

Also I always have the TC come on in the same spot and trun on a particular road..so all i do it push the TC button once, and Volia...it doenst do it at that spot anymore...so its a little "work around" until i get the TSB done.

Or have your dealer change your tire size if you are not using the largest one available to the truck pcm. I did this ($75 dealer charge) and solved 95% of all my TC issues plus now my speedo and mpg are more accurate.

check your tire pressure, it could be alittle high. I was running my car tires at max psi because I liked the ride better and the traction control light was coming on some corners. it was on the highway and there was no dirt on the roadway. I lowered the air pressure and the light doesn't come on anymore. High pressure lowers the contact surface.
