Skid plate padding
 

I was thinking of painting my front skidplate. It has a foam like pad with some plastic clips on the side facing the engine that is pretty oil soaked. Can I remove that or does it serve a purpose?

Probably a heat/noise dampener. I doubt you will notice it if it's missing.

I removed mine and tossed it as soon as I bought my truck. Never noticed a difference.
