Default Sirius question

I hope this belongs here and not in a sub-forum but here goes. I just bought a 2011 SCAB XLT. My wife has a 2010 Escape with Sirius. I love the sound quality of the Sirius versus the FM Stereo. When I bought my truck, I saw the Sirius button and just assumed that the truck was equipped with sat radio. I was wrong. When you push the button it says No Satellite. After having the truck for 3 weeks, I really wish it had Sirius. What are my options for installing it now?? I dont want to replace the head unit. I want to use the factory controls, and I really dont want to see seperate sirius interface. I went to Best buy to ask the "techs" there but after 2 minutes I knew I was wasting time. The guy told me all I could do was get a FM transmitter version. It looks like Sirius makes kits that plug into the back of the stereo and hide behind the dash??? Not sure which part # is right though??? How difficult are these installations??? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
Shawn

You guys like pics here, so here is my new baby.

So far I've added Vent visors, a rubber bed mat, an ExTang trifecta tonneau cover, Rugged Ridge floor liners and have a Bug deflector to put on. More to protect from small rocks and sandblasting on the highway.

When I bought my truck new in 2010, Sirius equipped trucks automatically came with 6 months free. If that's still the case, go to the dealer and get them to turn your free trial period on

I went through the same thing when i traded my 10 scab for 11 Screw.
My 10 had it and still had about a month left on the subscription that i had paid for. When I got home and pressed the sirius button it said no sat. radio which I thought was strange, since my other truck would read no subscription.I immediately got out of the truck and looked on top to find no antenna.Since i was not going to renew it,it was no big deal for me.The 1st thing you need i would think is an antenna, but you could call the dealership and they'll probably know exactly what you need especially if you want to keep it factory.

A lot of vehicles will have the button even though it does not have the right add-ons. My Mazda3 is like that, they all have the button, but mine came with the extra stuff installed to make it work. The dealer will be able to make it work but they will need to add some hardware and install an antenna. I can see yours does not have the antenna. I'm not sure of the cost but probably around $500....

The dealer installed a module that made it work like the factory radio. It is a FoMoCo part, so there is no issue with warranty. Only takes a few hours to get it done.

@targetpanic: Exact same thing happened to me.

When I ordered my 2011 F150 XLT there was a miscommunication between my dealer and me. I was under the impression that the vehicle came with a sat radio and the salesperson thought that it did also. Turns out that it did not.

However, my dealer is great and wants me to be a happy customer so they installed the Sirius radio for free and the OEM kit came with a magnetic antenna. The radio they installed was a United Radio from Ford. The module # is 8S4T-18C953-A, the radio engineering # is BL3T-19C107-BA, the service # is BL3Z-18C869-AC. I don't know the difference between all the numbers - they are just what the dealer gave me. The whole install took them about 1 hour.

I had some issues with the antenna that I have detailed in another post if you're interested: https://www.f150forum.com/f38/satell...a-woes-110670/

Thanks for the info guys. After I had signed the papers, while they were processing the registration etc, is when I realized that there actually was no sirius radio. It was my fault, not the dealers, I kinda overlooked it in the excitement of buying a new truck and all.
I will call the dealership and find out the cost of installing the module. I was under the impression that it would not require an entire radio swap...but I really don't know.

@Theocoog...I read through your thread before making this one. Glad to see your dealer make it right. I was hoping that the module was available online or at a best buy type store but the dealership might be a better route to go.
