Default Sirius activation?

Does the dealer need to activate the Sirius service for it to work properly?

I purchased a '10 back at the end of June and I think I got a 3 month (or 6 month?) free trial. Everything seems to work just fine, at least that I can tell, but I don't recall the salesman ever saying anything about calling to activate it.

When i browse to certain channels though, the display scrolls through and says something about call 1-800-... to activate.

Any way I can find out if it's been activated?

I just called that number and 5 minutes later it was activated. I waited a couple of months also.

Then I let it expire, and that's when the phone calls started. I finally had to block their number thru my phone carrier cuz they are pests. At least 3 calls daily, up to 9:00pm.

If you register with them, and they have your email address they will send you discount offers. I have 2 accounts. On one I get 2 cars for the price of pen

If you ask fir their discount you can get one. They have many. Some ayr $6 a month for six months, some are theta rate for a year...if you just pay, they will charge you $12 a month

It should continue to work until the end of December. If you want to continue the Sirius satellite service, you will have to call and open an account.
