I have a 2010 XLT with Convenience Package. Somebody bumped my driver side mirror and it popped loose. I can't get it back in! Nothing seems broken, but it just flops around in there. The dealer wants $475 to install a new one.

The 2010s have two plastic posts with little ribs on them and two silver tangs that clip somewhere and the mirror has a round ball and a nub in a socket like a washerless faucet.

I don't need to replace the whole unit - - just pop the mirror back in. Anybody out there know the secret to this job?

picture of the back of the mirror? I popped mine out to do the reflectors to turn signal mods and all I had to do was push it back in and it clicked into place real easy, however i dont remember any round ball like you are talking about, perhaps yours broke in a different spot than where its supposed to pop out from.
