Not necessarily... for instance a 295/60/20 Nitto Terra Grappler is 34.45" in diameter, a 295/60/20 Toyo A/T2 is 33.9" in diameter.

True/real world sizes often vary a bit among manufacturers and that's why alot of them publish their 'actual' size in the specs. If ltnbolt is saying the bridgestone 275's are a bit wider than the pirellis, he probably got that info by looking at/measuring both in person

So there's a little more thread on one?

This info is CORRECT. Go to Tirerack.com and put in the tire size 275/55/20. Click on the Spec tab on the Pirelli and then the Bridgestone. You will see that the Bridgestone is 1.6" wider and .1" taller. I have seen the Pirelli in person on a Tremor mounted on the same 20" FX wheel that I have. I was parked right next to it at a dealership and the Pirelli is noticeably narrower.

I had seen this a couple of times over the years on different cars. Most of the time actual tire measurements (width & height) between brands are pretty close but not always.

So to correct your statement "a 275/55/20 should be the same size no matter who makes it but not always".

Pirelli:

Click the Spec tab and look at the 275/55/20 tread width.

Bridgestone:

Click the Spec tab and look at the 275/55/20 tread width.

The funny thing about the Pirelli Scorpion is they make a tire in three different tread widths for the same size. They are 8", 8.5" and 8.8" but none are 9.5" like the Bridgestone. Go figure.

Default Rocky Mountain High

Up at ~8,500' today in my ~3 week old 5.0L w/Tow Package.

Work to date is mainly getting it ready to Tow. Put in a TBC. Firestone 'Ride-Rite' Air Bags get installed this Thursday. Insulated the A/C Compressor output. The A/C is decent now. Window shopped for an Audio System. That waits until a House or two sells and we move to W. Colorado full time. Once permanently Registered, I'll move the front License Plate sideways like an Eco, and install some upper & lower Chrome Grills. Later, I'll change the Radio Antenna to insulated Wire, and lay it horizontal under non-Metal Fascia as is done on the high end Euro Cars I used to integrate Voice Recognition Cellphone Systems into. Since I can wire stuff in my sleep, I'll mod the DRLs to stay on w/High Beams to spot all the Deer we encounter. Aux Lights might follow. Great ideas on here.
