Default Should I wake up my 2013 with a 5 Star tune?

I am debating getting a 5 Star tuner and doing a performance tune on my 2013 3.5 EB. It has 65K miles and is still under the extended warranty for another 2 years or 100K miles. I haven't had the chain rattle or issue yet, but I am on the fence as to wait and see if it develops after more miles or just do a tune. I am wondering if a tune could or would cause the chain / cam issue? I am considering waking it up with a performance tune just for fun and to add a little zoom into my truck.

Does anyone have a good source for a good deal on a 5 star tuner?

Wait till black Friday. Then check out Stage 3 Motorsports. Here's a link. https://www.stage3motorsports.com/70...ar-Tuning.html That's who I got my tuner and 5* tunes from years ago.

The Tuning part is up to you, My Mustang has been running Bama Tunes since it had 12,000 miles on it, but it has the Cyclone in it and if something was going to break it would have by then. My Local Dealer will also work with you if you are tuned and that wasn't what caused the problem somewhere down the line. My Mustang also never had any additional warranty on it since most of them say any aftermarket product can void the warranty and unlike the factory warranty Aftermarket don't have to listen to you about the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
I got my 5 Star tune from 5 Star, they were the cheapest when I got it.

I agree with RLXXI, wait until black Friday being that we are so close. Kinda of sad that they can discount them that much and not just sell them at that price point anyway.....Although then we would be asking for even cheaper prices....

Either way I have a eco that was tuned at 75,000 miles and it now has 108,000 miles with no timing chain issues. I am about to replace my third exhaust manifold, but I don't believe the tune has caused that, just poor design by Ford on the back cylinder only using two very spaced out studs and the back stud snapping.

I have actually been experimenting the last two tanks with the 5* 87 economy tune. Here are my notes on that
*Improves gas mileage a little, like 1mpg
*Still has power from a stop
*Once rolling, this seems to be where the power gets "cut" by not spooling up the turbo as quick.
*Still better than the stock tune

Yes!! Definitely do it!! I got the 87 Performance/Tow , 91 Performance/Tow and 91 Performance only tunes for my 2013 f150 5.0, I got SCT X4 tuner. This thing drives like a Mustang GT now. I find the 87 tune perfect for everyday driving and the 91 performance only tune was a bit aggressive for everyday driving, made me want to drop the pedal at every light. Haven't tried the 91 Performance/Tow tune yet.You could wait for black Friday like RLXXI said or email them and ask for a discount code. They gave me 15% off code.

My truck has 2' level with 295/70R18 with 3:31 gears. It was a dog, now it has more power than it did with the stock tire size.. No longer will my truck be in 4th gear going 20 miles an hour or slow downshift delays and I was able to correct my speedometer. The 5 start tuning transmission shift points and increased throttle response alone are worth the price and the extra horsepower is just a bonus for me. This truck is way detuned from ford.

I agree with everyone else. you can go 5 star or mpt for your tune. I have a 2013 Limited with 80000 mile tuned it with a livewire ts+ at 55000 miles no issues. Definitely wait til black Friday sales like the gentleman mentioned before stage 3 probably your best bet money wise.

My truck is almost the exact same setup.

I wish they made a tuner where you could switch between tunes on the fly!

Also, I assume the tuner module itself backs up your stock tune and it gets tied to the vehicle. I will have to research about actually using it.

Yes sir. Stock file gets saved to the tuner. Using my sct x4 tuner is childs play. 5 Star includes a walk through pamphlet on getting the files uploaded to the tuner.
