Shorter Antenna Whistle

Shorter Antenna Whistle
I swapped out my larger antenna for a shorter 14'' antenna and ended up with a pretty loud whistle at over 55mph - as far as I can tell, that's pretty normal with shorter antennas. I tried removing the ball at the end of the antenna, but it made no difference. Is there a way to remedy this while maintaining a shorter antenna? Is there a "magic height" that would eliminate the whistle without having to have the large antenna on there?

Haha, I saw that - it looks just like stock, I like it. Looks like that 15'' is gonna be a winner!

I cut about 4" off my stock antenna. Nobody even knows. Put the height right where I wanted it.

I had seen this suggestion a lot, and thought about doing it before I purchased my current shorter antenna, but I thought it'd be good to have the stock one as is for a back up. But now I may cut it anyways, and see if that works before ordering another one.

I left it about 1-2" above the cab roof. Warning signal for low clearance. I also don't like the little bullet antennas like my kid has on his Taco. Thought about a medium one, but chose this route. The full height was hitting MY garage, and I didn't need that.
