Shock upgrade with 6" lift
#31
I called Icon today, $1599.95 for the front coilovers. And to custom make the rear shocks are $314.95 apiece. Called Fox, and they told me to go back through BDS to get the coilovers and rear shocks. The way I understand it with Icon, you have to go through one of their dealers. I asked them if I could order shocks today and they said no. And I think the way they were telling me, the price will be a little cheaper from a dealer. They were given me the suggested retail price.

I never asked, there is no way in hell I'll ever pay that much for a shock! Especially when my truck will never see dirt! It's a "Mall Queen" lol Been there done that, cost to much to clean up and fix. I'll probably just get the Fox shocks.

Yes, the Fox shocks will work with the 6 inch BDS lift. They will also custom build shocks, but I never asked a price. I'm sure they cost more than Icon. They are 2.0 racing series shocks.

Iirc the fox shocks for bds are custom length. Still think I might try to price out a custom length 2.0 coilover and run bds 6" fox rears. I have a feeling it'll probably just as much/easier to buy the 6" bds 2.5 coilovers for what it'd cost to have custom 2.0s made.

You are probably right about the price. On BDS website, when you build the 6 inch kit the rear Fox shocks cost $165.26 for the set. If you build the 6 inch kit with the coilovers, it ads $1765.05 to the kit. My truck really doesn't ride to bad up front, it's the rear that I'm having problems with. Bouncing around really bad.

After talking to a few guys who swapped leaf springs, I think that is the cause of the sh*tty ride. Mines not bad but definitely doesn't take square edge bumps well. I think I'm going to do the deavers and some uca's first before anything. I think having at least 2.0s all the way around would give a good street ride with a mild performance capable off road suspension.

You will have to educate me, what are deavers? That might be a good idea, remove the rear blocks for a good pair of leaf springs and upgrade to the Fox shocks. When talking the a Fox representative today, I know I wouldn't need any bigger for the rear or a shock with a reservoir.

So I'm running an rcx 6" with bilstein 5100s all the way around. They do well, have pretty decent road manners, and the price was hard to beat. However, I'm looking to do deavers in the rear and the 5100s seem to be a little too short. What are you 6" lift guys running in the rear? I'm trying to get some specs on the bds fox coils and rear 2.0s. Up front I'm looking to do coils and probably Icon uca's. Has anyone ran the fox 2.0 coilovers with a 6" lift utilizing a spacer up front? Also I'm running a 4.5 backspace, will I be ok with the icon uca? Just looking for some options and still keep the 6" height. Not sure if I want to drop the coin on a full length 2.5 upfront as I think a 2.0 coilover would be suffice for my amount of off-roading needs. So basically what I'm looking to do is hybrid the rcx 6" wih fox 2.0 coils & rears with deavers in the rear and icon uca's up front. Is this possible? Thanks guys.
