Default Second Truck Service...

I took my truck in for it's second truck service. They had on the sticker 9863 miles was when they wanted me to take it in but I didn't get there until 10k. Anyway, I noticed on the paperwork they had two, "Recommendations" and I'd like your input on them.

One was a "recommended" coolant service and the other "recommendation" was a; what I'm assuming was a throttle body cleaning.

Being since the truck has only 10k miles on it should I have both of these "recommended" services performed or should I just wait?

Your owners manual has a service interval section in it. The dealer needs to sell additional services to make more money...

That's what I thought. I find it odd that my service center tells me to change the oil every 5k miles but the book says more. Not that I mind having the oil changed early. I just think it's weird.

I'm going to have to print out the service schedule in the book, I can never remember what it says.

It basically says the shop is trying to make money off you.

I thought the same thing. So the consensus is to not do either of those things. Good, because I wasn't going to anyway. Just wanted some opinions.

I use the specs the book, for Severe Service when they list them. If not I go about 30% sooner than what's recommended. So instead of coolant at 100k, I do it at 70.

That's good advice. Thanks.

The coolant service probably amounts to them testing it, telling you it is fine, and charging you $45 for the service.
