Default Seats Not Cooling

My 2010 Lariat has the heated/cooled front seats but when i turn the cool seat button I hear the fan in the seat but it doesn't get any cooler. It was working like the seat was ice. Now fan but not cold. Anyone else having this problem? If so how can I fix it?

Check the air filter under the seat? Maybe it's clogged.

It's a bi-metallic cooling system, so it may be an electrical short. (there's no AC ducted to the seat)

It's just a fan that pulls air from under the seat, whatever the air temp is under the seat is what your going to get, I thought the same thing, I got my 2010 in late 2009 getting into the cooler months, then when summer started to hit here in the Florida Keys I didn't think it was working until I got under the seat and took a look.

How does the Bi-Metalic cooling work?

In a nutshell, if you run a current across the apparatus one way, it heats; if you run it the other way, it cools. It's a rather neat application of engineering ingenuity! I was surprised when my mechanic told me they had used it in the seats (I didn't think the technology had become that cheap yet).

Google "Peltier Element".

not questioning your mechanic but....I don't understand this, when cooling, the fan pulls air from under the seat and blows it out the perforated holes in it, whatever the air temp is under the seat is what you get (from what I've experienced). When heating the fan doesn't come on at all, there is a heating element in the seat.

The fan pulls cabin air across the element. Because of the amount of heat put out there's no need for the fan when heating (plus, it probably wouldn't be as warm). Your butt ain't getting frosty, but it's cooler than just moving ambient air. If it were just a fan only, you'd see no immediate effect in 110 degree wx.
