Default Seats

I currently became the owner 09 F150 KR with 9k. It was a demo truck, the truck is still brand new and I got a really good deal instead of getting the 2010 model which was basically the same.. When I picked it up I noticed that the leather cover to my seats were loose at the front bottom of my seat, so I took it back and got the dealer to fix it and they said that the clips came undone. Well, about a week later they came undone again, so I figure out how to clip it back in. My problem now is that they keep coming undone. Does anyone have this problem?? If so please give some advice on how to keep from coming undone.

Thanks....

I'm not sure how to fix that unfortunately, but I'm not suprised if it was a demo truck. Unfortunately people do not know how to treat their seats and they just plop down in them and tear them up w/o realizing it and get out of them wrong. The best fix probably is to get a new factory seat cover maybe. Shouldn't be terribly expensive and if it's under warranty might cost you nothing.

What should we be doing? I have never heard of this before besides maybe wiping the leather or cloth clean every so often. But never of how to "properly" get in and out of my seats...

I am considering/price shopping having Katzskins installed and would def want to know how to treat them right.

Its happening on both sides driver and passenger. The seats looked like they have never been sat on.

Do a search on this forum.....
I think I remember this coming up before, and ther may be a TSB out on the clips. The dealer will put the new clips on there for you, if I remember correctly.

Normally, I get in from an open door and place my butt on the seat. Is there a more efficient way I should be sitting down to extend the life of my seats?

Yes their are plenty of ways to improve the life of your seats. Have you never seen two same model vehicles with nearly same mileage and one have less wear in the driver's seat? When I buy a vehicle I always look at the wear in the driver's seat as it is a good indication of how well the car was taken care of. If someone thought enough of the vehicle to take care of the seats they must have thought a lot of the rest of the vehicle as well. You don't plop your butt in the seat as this wears out the cushion quicker and stretches the leather. The handle on your pillar posts are their for a reason. You use this to help you keep balance while you suspend yourself over the seat and sit down in it. You don't slide off to the side and drop off the edge of the seat to get out either as this will again stretch the leather and wear out the custhion on the edge of the seat wear it comes to a peak at the driver side door. You use the grab handle to lift yourself where you can then get a foothold on your running board or step panel and exit the vehicle.

I mean get out of the truck however you want that would be picky of me to sit here and tell you your doing it wrong, and it can be more difficult for older people. I know its hard on my knees too. I just plan on keeping my truck till the wheels fall off and I want it to look the best it can while I have it. Doing little things like that will make your vehicle last longer and if you plan on selling your vehicle, is it not a turnoff to see an old cracked ugly looking seat with some of the leather pealing and cushion coming off? To me that's just a sign of someone who didn't care about the vehicle to much, and cares even less now beacuse they are trying to get rid of it.

That's just my thoughts and opinions on the subject. Sorry for kinda threadjackin.

And I'm not saying anyone who has a worn out seat doesn't care about their truck, some people don't mind that the seat is worn out and understand that it will happen from use. It's just something that catches my eye like when I was purchasing the truck I have now from the dealer, "Wow this previous owner put almost 60K miles on it in 1.5 years, but those seats sure do look good. They must have reallly taken care of the truck."

1. Where do i get a pillar grab bar handle for my truck?

2. Now, can you tell us how to properly plop ourselves down on the toilet? I don't wanna wear that seat out too early either.

Thanks

Mine came with a grab handle, and please don't change the way you get in your truck on my account. How you tear up your truck is your business, I won't stop ya!
