Default Sct x4

Just installed the X4 with canned tunes - definitely feel a difference in performance and the firmer shift is a blessing. Now I am learning that to get the "ideal" setup is to go with MPT (?) custom tunes - another $70 which I have not yet sold myself on. Is there really that much of a difference in performance? My vehicle is a 2011 F150 5.0 4X4 - 22K miles. I'm 71 but still have some kid left in me but not sure if I need the additional kick in performance.

71?? Good for you brother!!!
I'm 49 & though my bones feel like your age, I'm also a kid at heart still!
I have not purchased my tuner yet, but I will very soon!
You have one of the most popular & probably highest recommend tuner on this forum.
Many will state that the custom tunes are a completely different animal.... And one you'll love!
Many highly recommend them & I'll be getting mine in the near future too!
Keep us posted if you do!
More smiles to the miles!!!!!

I just replied in another thread, but I have the custom tunes for my X4 from 5 star and YES, it's makes a helluva difference. I'm not sure on MPGs yet, thinking about disconnecting battery to see if that does anything. If you want to get thrown back in your seat, go ahead and give em a try.

Sorry to hijack. I am running an X4 as well. When you guys go to the custom gauges, for some reason the more important ones are not available such as trans temp, etc. Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks,

You should be ashamed of yourself at 71 years old. You've got me by a couple of years but I've been tempted myself.

FWIW, I got my tunes from Power Hungry for $40 each and there's definitely a difference from the canned tunes.

The custom tune will give you the same improvement over the canned tune, that the canned tune gave you over stock.

I'm 52 and owned a '86 Mustang 5.0. The first year for the fuel injected 5.0. We thought we were bad a**es because we had 230hp. Funny how times change. I bought a 5.0 FX4 because of the memory of this car. I was disappointed at first. After adding the custom tune, my 5.0 feels like I remember my Mustang feeling like. Nothing against you eco-boost guys, but I grow up on the sound of a V8 and will give up a little hp to hear my 5.0 sing.

I just got my x4 tuner and 5* tunes in last week.

Put the 93 Perf/Tow tune in and its a whole new truck! You won't go wrong with getting a custom tune, that's for sure.

Located in Pittsburgh, I'll need to use the 87 tune in winter for sure, lol.

Default Wow!

Thanks for all the cool replies. My common sense tells me to hold off on such frivolous expenditures, however desire almost always trumps common sense. Ya think by now I would know better....
