i saw nothing inappropriate, and we are all just joking around, anxious like everyone else to see how this wonder was accomplished..

Does it recline to this position or does this new position become the fixed position. Does look a little tight getting into the back with it like that.

If you ever have a chance to ride on a trip in

a little more recline on long trips. Here are two
pics of my mod, completely functional and ready
to travel. I will post pics of the complete mod
next week when i disassemble my mod.
The single
seat is moved forward 3.5". When the seat is raised,
the top of the back is in the original position. My
construction is sturdy, and i made this mod with
no welding or butchering of the original seat

Default SCREW Rear Seat recline (writeup)

OK, Here is a brief writeup on my SCREW rear seat recline mod.
I am sending 4 pics. This mod moves the "PIVOT POINT" of the
single rear seat forward by 3 1/2". This gives you a comfortable
recline while on long trips in the rear seat.

Materials list:
8- 1/4"x3/4" hex with nylon lock nuts
1- 9"x12" sheet 3/16" thick mild steel plate.
1 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 1/8" angle 1/2" long

Objective:
1. Move the "SINGLE" rear seat forward 3-1/2"
2. this is done by moving the "PIVOT POINT" forward 3-1/2"

I have lots of pics for this mod. There are only (4) holes drilled
in the original factory mount. The left/right plates must be cut
as pictured to accomidate the offsets in the factory mounts.
There is no welding or cutting of the original mounts.

The "PIVOT" bolt is a "Shoulder Bolt", thus the hole must be
measured and drilled to fit the bolt "Precisely". use a micrometer.

The factory mount,(Left) has an angle w/stud to hold the end of
the seat gas cylinder. You must mfg. this from the angle in my
materials list.

The threaded rod with yellow tape, in my pics of the two mounts is only
to show the original pivot point vs the new pivot points.

You can use my drawing templates if you print and cutout on a
standard sheet of copy paper.

AGAIN: you are moving the single seat "PIVOT POINT" fwd
ALSO: This MOD can be done on the longer seat, using the same
technique.

You can msg or email me if you want to.
Thanks...........MAG12CHULAI691

Awesome work! What did you use to cut out the steel plate so precisely ?

Good thing you posted back early. Some of the troops were getting restless!

Default thanks XLT09

Thanks for coming to my rescue from the 'anxious'

I used a metal cutting band saw for my rough cut.
I will post some pics of tools and work in progress
for you guys to to get an idea. I am doing a MOD
on the longer seat, which will use the same plates.
Thanks.

OK liking the mod so far.
could i ask if you try-ed to make it adjustable?
if you made the same bracket as OEM and made it as long as your new bracket. them put a grove (same size as as the hole)from 3/4" or 5/8" of a inch up from the hole on OEM bracket to hole in new bracket. put a slot in where new hole is and old hole is with maybe one in middle you could make it slide. then you would be able to pick up seat and slide it forward or back then it would be adjustable!
it would look like the arm of a old style a pool lounger(bracket) and work the same way? if i get time ill go out to the shop and see if i can michane something like this! then ill post pics of what i was thinking

Default SCREW Rear Seat recline

Blue,

I thought about making the seat slide back and forth as
an adjustable seat normally would. I do have access to a
complete machine shop with all machine tools. However
my MOD is just to suit me, for now.

I have several prototype drawings that i have made for
many MODS on this truck and many things other things. Not
many on this board are machinists, so i encourage all to
do a MOD yourself only if you can do a good job of it.

I made the parts in my garage. You must be precise in your
measurements for this MOD to look and function properly.
USE A MICROMETER when measuring the height and distance
from the original PIVOT POINT to the new point.
