If they aren't too bad, you may get by with polishing them out by hand. I use Meguires 105 finishing polish – light swirls remover and Meguires 205 Ultra cut finishing compound when I remove swirls and light scratches from my vehicles.

You may have to go with an orbital using yellow and orange pads.

How can you complain about something on a public forum then not expect feedback?

I tend to agree that you shouldn't badmouth your family on a public forum. What if your wife were getting on Facebook and telling everyone, my husband is an arrogant ***** and I want to trade him in on another because he did the dishes wrong? Wouldn't you be offended/disappointed? Possibly divorce her for it?

I also don't see any reason why not to give constructive advice on how to have it fixed. Telling someone to have their kid fix it is still advising how to have it fixed...just in a different way.

And not to harp on the subject, but to complain about how lazy/impatient someone is then get mad at them that quickly and not find a better way to punish them (said he already reprimanded him before truck was fixed) seems kind of hypocritical and makes you wonder...is that why the kid is that lazy/impatient?

Hell, its a perfect time for some father son bonding and teach the boy something useful, which it sounds like the OP is now going to do.

Basically what would have been taught to the kid via a possibly physical punishment is that he shouldnt do anything to help dad out, rather than being taught how he can really help dad out. Would lead to a better set of relationships for the kid in the future because he would care more about how he was doing things for people, rather than just not doing anything for them.

On the calling child services, I would never do that unless it was like he was beating the **** out of the kid with broken bones and/or blood.

Go ahead, chew my *** out.
You're looking at it differently, at the end of the day I'm sure he doesn't truly hate his kid. He's just frustrated because no matter how you raise some children, they're going to be lazy ****s or have different traits.

I'm not the type to argue so I'm not going to chew anything out. I said my opinion and left it at that. I'm not going to wreck his thread.

Are these scratches inside the bed of the truck? Or on the outside, like the outside of the tailgate?

What type of compound should I use?

Here are the some pictures of the scratches, I took them this morning before I left for work; it was still somewhat dark so hopefully they are fine. Hopefully people can actually see them; I can never get DropBox to share my pictures.

Getting this thread back on track,

One looks like a scuff and the other is a scratch. Plus you have other swirl marks so a DA polisher would take care of this. I will give you DA speed, technique and pad info in the morning, I'm goin to bed.

Id be pissed to if those were on my Truck

The OP is only asking for advise how to fix it, as to what happened and how it happened, not comments from the peanut gallery on his Family matters..

I have a 14 yr old grandson who rarely listens to what he is told unless it Interests him...lol , his head is always in the clouds, mostly thinking of video games, and does it his way even when shown how to do it right. SO I feel for OP but saying that he is a Great Kid, and for the most part is better then a lot his age....and he spends almost every weekend with us and summer holidays, he would live here if he had his choice...lol..
Kids will be Kids.....no matter how well there raised.

@what TeamZambo said....ditto!!
I take pride in all my vehicles, and everything else I own, I know people who have no respect for anything or anyone for that matter, its only there loss and pocket book...

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I think the OP's son should start posting comments in this thread, that will raise the maturity level quite a bit.
