Not cool. At the least it would be nice if we could purchase an upgrade or something.

The new system is QNX based (Blackberry). I'm not surprised it won't be backward compatible. The processor that drives the MFT system in our current trucks is pretty weak. Most recent smartphones have a more capable CPU/RAM combo.

I don't have major problems with Sync (I don't frequently use voice commands). However, you have to think that if they'd spend a few more $$$ on a better SOC (like a current high end phone) it would be possible to offer updates over a longer period of time. I'd like to see over time if integration with the phone could offer some better capabilities, especially if some of the processing could be offloaded to the phone.

I could care less how it looks *IF* it's reliable. E.g., I like how the Kia Optima looks over the Ford Fusion, but...well....Kia. LOL

That all sounds very nice.
I'll be ready for a new 2019 or 2020 F-150.

I won't be ready for the $80,000.00 Window Sticker Price!

I've never had a problem with the sync/MFT system in any of my Ford vehicles. It gets flustered from time to time but it seems to work itself out.
