Saw a '15 on the freeway yesterday

^ This this this this this I can just about guarantee that if you build a '15 with the same options your '12 has it will maybe be $2k more. And you could blame that on inflation. Don't like the high prices? Don't get a truck with all the bells and whistles. Even the XLT has gone upmarket these days and you can get many more creature comforts. We have an XLT without MyFordTouch in our showroom right now, it has almost exactly the same equipment as a 2014 XLT plus a few extra niceties like heated seats, and the MSRP is about $600 more. That's moot considering its a brand new model from the ground up. So if you want your basic truck priced the same as a 2014, you have it. People just expect the world. They want their cake and they want to eat it too, meaning they want their options but don't want to pay for them. It's irrational and stupid.

Ford is a business. Their entire goal and existence for being is to make a profit. They have ever right to try to maximize that profit, so they'll charge as much as the consumer will allow.

Like mentioned in the comment above, Ford is a business who has full intentions of retaining a healthy profit margin. Their manufacturing costs went up, so prices go up. The canadian/American dollar exchange rate also plays a big part in it. Simple business economics.

They're asking more than this consumer will allow and it's not because I can't afford it. My dealer said people are blown away when they see the sticker price on the new model and I agree. I really like the new model but I don't believe what I'd be getting for an extra $10-12k is worth it.
....now had they achieved better MPG results or went to a 10 speed transmission I might think otherwise.
