Default Satellite radio in Alaska

My truck is a loaded 2012 FX4 Eco. I bought it in Texas and loved having sat radio. The reception was bad when I moved to AK in the summer of 12 so I had it turned off. Does anyone know if the reception in the Fairbanks, AK area is any better now?

Unless they've put another satellite up, doubtful. The satellites are simply too low on the horizon to be received well that far north. My folks had the same issue when they drove up to Alaska this past summer.

I have driven to Yellowknife in the Northwest territories and the Sirius Sat reception was perfect; Yellowknife is just a few hundred miles south of the Arctic Circle.

I have also driven to Cartwright in Labrador, also very far north on the Eastern side of the continent and there too the sat radio reception was perfect.

I have driven through most of the US, nearly every state, and have never had any interruption in sat radio reception ever.

Thanks for the replies, I guess I'll wait to turn it back on when I move back to the lower 48 in a couple of years.

Call Sirius, tell them what your problems was. Tell them you will give them another try if they will start you with the $25/6 month package to make sure, and that's all you're willing to do. I'll bet they will hook you up.

When I bought my Ram new in 2009, the SiriusXM came with a manual and instructions for tuning the signal. Different parts of the country needed a different set-up. Call Sirius or check the paperwork that came with the vehicle. Admittedly, it does note where you may not receive a signal, and you might be there

I no longer have the truck or paperwork, so hopefully you can find the info elsewhere.
