Default Rust on a new truck common?

I just bought a new 2013 F-150 XLT Supercrew on 12/23/2013. Today I finally had a chance to take a look underneath the truck and noticed rust. I bought it in Vancouver, BC, Canada so there isn't a lot of salt used on the road but it is a cold and rainy climate at the moment. I have a underground parkage so it doesn't sit outside when not in use. Now this is my first new vehicle and first truck so I have no experience in this area. So I was hoping to get some opinions of you guys who have more experience and wisdom than I. Is it normal to find rust on the undercarriage after two weeks?

Yup had some on mine too. It's surface rust only I don't know why they don't e-coat the differential and drive shaft (which will rust soon too) like they do other exterior body parts exposed to the elements.

I wouldn't get excited about that! Being your in Canada, the underside will be a rust bucket in a few yrs anyway...

Took this pic at about 500 miles or so when I changed my exhaust to a cat back performance setup, check out the drive shaft, worse than yours.

Do Chevys and Dodges rust like this? My Honda Odyssey which is 8 years old doesn't show any rust yet but a F150 one month old does? What's up with that?

as mentioned its just surface rust and not anything that will be more than an eyesore, they dont paint it/put a rust coating on it.

your Odyssey also doesnt have a solid rear or a driveshaft to look that way.

I noticed this within the first week of having my 2013. My father (the mechanic in the family) told me the same thing.
