Run in with car wash...antenna and base gone!
Went through an automatic car wash today, my platinum came out super clean although the car wash removed the antenna, base and base cover along with it. Ripped the threaded bases right out of the truck. I brought it to the car washes attention and they found the pieces in the tunnel and agreed to file a claim. So tomorrow I go have it "estimated" of figure what all it needs. I assume everything in the photos. He mentioned they get cost on parts but I am really wanting to push to have them order everything and schedule the appointment at the closest ford dealer to ensure nothing is half assed. Have any of you guys had issue with your antenna being broken? It kind of surprised me as I used this car wash with my other 9 F-150s of this body style and never once had an issue. Maybe I need to remove my antenna going forward if I decide to continue using them? Hoping to avoid this going forward.

Damn that sucks! Funny, the guy always tells me not to worry about mine but I always take it off before anyways, now I know it won't be ok

I won't go through with the antenna on - lost one about 10 years ago the same way, they forgot to take it of so I take it off every time now.
interesting - I figured the antenna would snap at the threaded base and you'd just have to drill that out. You say the whole base snapped off? Maybe it's designed to break away? Where did the cable come unplugged, does it just plug into the base?

Really shocked they are paying for it. Many around here have big signs claiming they aren't responsible for the breakage.

Also an FYI: Car washes (at least in my area) do not use fresh/new water for every wash. The water goes through a filter, is recycled & is used on the next car, & the next car after that etc. I worked for the USPS & the truck wash in Philadelphia would start to smell pretty rank after awhile. I was told that the recycling thing is by law.

Man there's no way in hell I'd go through one of those car washes unless it's the "brushless" kind. Those rags that spin around just wrap around things and pull them off. I learned that lesson more than once after I drove out without one of my mirrors because the spinning rags pulled them off. Now I stick to the kind that only sprays water.

Couldn't pay me to have dirty brushes / fabric scratching up my vehicles.
