Just ordered/received the RC hidden winch mount and RC 12k winch with steel cable. Unfortunately the mounting plate was damaged somewhat in shipment so sorting that out before I install it. I'll be sure to take pictures!

It was mentioned in another thread about adding a led light bar to the space where the mount goes. Could you drill holes in the RC plate and make a couple mounts to attach a light bar just above the winch fairlead? For those who don’t want to mount behind the grill.

Just purchased a 13 5.0 and thinking about getting this because I have a Warn winch sitting in my garage I took off my jeep awhile back. I think it might be a m8000 I'd have to check. If so I guess I'd sell it and get a 12k winch.

Does the top of the winch that gets moved come with hardware to bolt it in, or is it more of a zip tie figure out out kinda thing?

Anyone know roughly what the drop in the front of a stock truck would be because of adding a winch? I know it would probably depend on the brand and size winch one would get. I'm thinking maybe 1/4".

I also have a 13 5.0. Have the plate in but no winch, stock suspension. No drop that I've noticed. I believe the m8000 is a front foot mount (if its similar to the 12k in Power Wagons). I'm waiting for the Warn I want to go on sale, VR Evo 12s, i seen in another thread on this forum that a guy had a Zeon and did not move the control box. I dont know how close it comes to the hood latch or lines behind it. I'd love to not move it. I'm planning on not using the "beauty" plate/ tag holder that RC mount comes with, figured a little extra cooling to the radiator and motor of thr winch if I ever use it.

I'm pretty sure the m8000 can mount feet forward or down. I think it's only when you get up to the m12000 and up that you have to mount it feet forward. The m12000 and up winches are huge and won't fit anyway though. I have a Zeon 12-S Platinum in my bumper. It's a tight fit, but it fits fine. I only had to trim part of the plastic on the hood latch a little to clear the control box. The advantage of the Platinum is the wireless clutch, so I don't have to open my hood to switch between freespool and engaged. Getting the rope threaded and the thimble in was kind of a pain. Don't forget to install the protective sleeve first, or you'll end up doing it twice like I did.

Good tips. On my ATV I have to cut the protector off for it to spool all the way in. Usually break the line every season, harbor freight 25 bucks love the synthetic. I would love a Platinum but I dont think I'd use it enough to jump to it, the VR Evo will treat me good. I dont plan on getting thr truck stuck, that's what the ATV is for lol. I'll look at the hood latch plastic whenever I get the winch.
