I would probably shy away from synthetic rope on this set up for a few reasons. Yes it may save you 15-20lbs but it's also exposed to a lot of heat from the radiator. For me I also worry about the line freezing when wet.

A heads up on using Mag-Light holders to clip on your license plate. See if you can find the old style metal ones as the plastic ones are prone to breaking in my experience.

So I'm interested in getting a winch and like the idea of the hidden mount but unfortunately I have a lightbar blocking the hole in the bumper. I was just thinking what if I could mount the winch inside my toolbox in my bed and cut a hole in the front allowing the hook to come out of it. Obviously it would be possible but I'm afraid mounting it in the box and using it wouldn't be a good idea. I'm afraid it would bend the box or dislodge it from the bed trying to pull something. What do you guys think?

Not going to work like that for several reasons, mainly not being mounted to the frame.

What about the guys that do that on their trailers? It has to mount to something.

I'll give you the first gripe as it was starting to get political but I have to agree with stingray. It's still on track talking about winches and mounting options.

I've been interested in adding a hidden winch to my F150 for some time now. One question I have for you guys that have is if you had do anything to your front suspension to account for the additional weight.

I have a AS level right now and I don't want the front to end up any lower. Did anyone find this to be a problem? If so, what did you do?

Thanks
