I've been searching the forums for the past hour, but haven't found what I'm looking for. As you all know, the stock reverse lights are terrible, so I'm looking for a much brighter option that could also be used as a work light in the dark. I'm looking at ordering a 12" led light bar and mount it in the same area as the license plate. Does anyone know if something like this would be too bright for the rear view camera?

Hear lots of great things from this company and I know a guy on another forum that custom modified his rear bumper for installing Rigid lights flush into it. His pictures told to story how good this company is.

 

I have one of these...had to trim the bottom of it to fit the F150 bumper but it works awesome...I have the backup camera too

Yes, for backup you do not want spot. I wouldn't buy from the site. Hunt around for deals on them, google search it.

 

I put these little guy on and they are amazing worth every penny.

 

I have 2 LED Cubes facing backwards on the back rack. At 2000 Lumens each, they wash out everything at night on the camera. Great for loading and unloading the truck at night though!

 

You are describing exactly what I did this weekend. I will be posting up the details tonight, the fixtures I chose work perfect, can see EVERYTHING behind you in the camera now, plus manual override to switch on anytime. Did the LED bed lighting also.

I got the black ones since my truck is black of course, very low profile. Just bolt them up to the lower bumper bolt on either side of the hitch, they fit perfect there, unless you have dual exhast, then you could use the other two bolts further out closer to the bumber ends. Mounting below the bumper will keep the camera from getting washed out like putting a source at the license plate, you'll see what I mean in the photos that I post.

I also have a detailed wiring diagram that I designed to use an isolated constant hot from the battery controlled by relays.

OP, look up LED license plate. One of the guys on here put on one, and it may be what you are looking for.
