Guys, if you are still having some lingering issues after receiving the new ballasts: it's your bulbs. We had a couple reports like this, we replaced the bulbs and everything was working perfectly once again. Seems the SS ballasts took a few bulbs down with them. Please contact us so we can take care of that for you
As some others have just mentioned, the DSP ballasts will not have any cold start issues guaranteed.

Both of my TRS ballasts failed to fire last night (20 degrees F) after a huddle house run... twice. Then one came on... then the other one came on. Then they both finally fired. My passenger light then flickered to a lovely pink color (in celebration of the new year I suppose) for about 1 minute before coming to color. I hope the new ballasts fix this issue, and I hope my bulbs haven't been damaged because of the erratic starting.

I have the new DSP ballasts shipping out to me tomorrow (thanks Bil!) which as kidastra posted earlier that TRS says will not suffer the extreme cold issues. I'll be good test subject for these DSP ballasts since we've still got a couple of potential deep freeze temperature months ahead of me.

Well I'm here to join the party. My lights didn't fire this morning or this afternoon and it's a bit colder where I'm at. (5 degrees F). I doubt it's' my bulbs I have the Osram CBI bulbs but I don't know for certain with that said I don't know if these flaky ballasts will damage my bulbs too. Only way I could get them to fire was to turn the light switch on and off.

Wow, to retro or not to retro... I am currently on the list, but it really seems the technology is just not there yet. With as many vehicles on the road with HIDs as there are, why are these issues occurring? What is so different in retro lights from the oem projector set ups??

Aftermarket ballasts are not astronomical in price compared to OEM ballasts. The OEM Denso ballasts (35w) are considered the best, but they come at steep price of $200.00 from TRS. These are "like-new" and they are not waterproof. New, they are around $450.00 each. I had clients who have gone through a couple cold Canadian winters with not a single ballast problem using the TRS ballasts. Like Azuri mentioned, it's just this particular batch of ballasts that are affected and I know TRS is in panic mode to get them right...and fast.

I guess it's paying off that my build is in April!
I wonder if it's just the cold? Are all you guys that are having problems in the extreme cold? I've been running a retro-solutions HID set up for a few years now and not one issue even with auto. Fire every time with zero flicker.
I live in Va and it gets into the teens MAYBE which I'm sure is shorts temp for you guys up north!
