This is that retrofit thread we talked about!
Hardcore, Looking real good!!
I finished the cutouts for the projectors and started de-chroming the buckets. Will start painting this week. Still havent decided on a color scheme yet. Still considering painting the trim & buckets 'Dark Shadow Gray'. Think it would tie in the grille and lights, but not sure if it would be too much.

I think it would look great. Not completely blacked out, but not chrome either. I just looked through Bil's thread to see what color scheme I wanted. I should've painted my buckets black, but I kinda like the black chrome look that the shroud makes in the bucket.
Decided to go with a different look for the shrouds. Don't think anyone has ever done this before. I did the shrouds themselves in low-gloss black, and the shroud inserts in plasti-dip smoke. They look gray when the halos are off (which is the look I wanted) but also let the light through neatly and look like a satin clear when the halos are on. They also limit the amount you can see behind the shroud, but you can still see the hideous yellow ring on the halos.
I think it's going to look really neat, though.
Getting extremely close to sealing them up - it's happening tonight! Probably will leave them clamped for 18 hours or so. I want them installed before the long weekend is done.

Maybe I'll sneak out at 5:30-ish and do a couple runs up Dunbow to show them off..
Got the last one clamped this morning. I only have 2 quikgrip clamps and 1 C-clamp (I'm cheap as f**k), so I have to do one at a time. This morning I took the clamps off the first headlight and it looked like the butyl was about as hard as it will get (giggity) so I moved the clamps over to the second light. I'm under the impression that the clamps really only hold the lens in place until the tape hardens to it's room temperature state? I don't really think 24 hours is necessary..BUT I could be wrong.

Nothing can go smoothly for me, can it?
went to go install my final light this afternoon and went to twist the D2S connecter on and both tabs on the bulb busted clean off. Now the connector won't go far enough onto the bulb to get a good connection, so it won't fire.
Looks like I'm spending another $150 to get a new bulb hurried to my door from TRS unless I can find a local Morimoto dealer..

Yep. Everything was going wayyyy too smoothly. I don't even want to bother with warranty because it will be the slow shipping that takes 2 weeks anyway, IF they'd warranty it. I'm going to try some steelstik to keep the connector in place until I can get a new bulb on the way. Probably won't work, but I'm gonna try.
