Aww crap - that sucketh, my good man.

Perhaps they need to be renamed "Dealbreakers"

Should I hang on to my trusty ( to me - can't kill 'em) SS units?

Good luck!

My DSP ballasts (5Five) have been working great, and we have been in the deep freeze for a while now. It was -33C this morning, and they both fired right up.

That said, I have had 2 instances where one didn't fire, and had to be cycled once or twice. Both times I started the truck with the headlights in Auto. I try to avoid that whenever possible, but I jumped in and started the truck in a hurry on both occasions.

Normally I keep the switch in Auto, and start the truck with the remote as I walk up to it. Then jump in, turn the key and the lights fire without issue.

That's good to hear. I got my harness and ballasts all mounted and wired in. Tomorrow I'm going to align the projectors in the new heads. Any last minute tips on aligning and mounting the projectors into the heads? I got 2 tubes of steel stik to do it.

Did you tape your lines on your wall from your halogens? I remember having a heck of a time aligning, finally I had to hold the projector while the steel stick dried for about 3 minutes, I found wrapping the steel stick ***** around the cut opening in the reflector bowl kept the ***** from moving and help me keep them level.

Oh biggest thing I can suggest which I forgot to do. Turn your adjuster screws to the middle. So when you are done you can still aim your lights in both directions.

No I didn't tape off the halogens yet. I'll do that right before I take my headlights out once I park the truck in the spot where I'm gonna do the alignment. I'll make sure to mold the ***** of putty around the edges of the cutout in the reflector to get a good hold. Should I scuff up the metal on the projectors to get a better hold with the steel stik?

Hi.

Wipe it down with alcohol to remove any oils & crap - stuff will stick better.

According to TRS, you must wear torn jeans and have yer ballcap on backwards or the tape job will not be accurate

best of luck!

Haha I think I'll be ok then. I got ripped jeans and a ball cap. I guess I know what I'll be wearing tomorrow . I'll wipe them down with alcohol first. Thanks MGD and kidastra!

I finally got to have a good drive with my night breakers last night (3.5 hours back to NE) and they're definitely amazing. I'm sure part of it is the fact I went to them from 5000K bulbs but it's more than just a color change. Pricey but worth it IMO.

The cynical side of me wants to suggest to drink the alcohol , and rock out with the backwards cap, ripped jeans, and keep the trouble free halogens.... But since this is a retro link... I better keep my unhelpful comment to myself.
