Retrofit console light from 14' to a 13'?

But it is a light, hence the terminology of 'ambient lighting'. Same exact setup and location within the console and yes it is part of ambient package. Point is I have a factory light in my console and it is not exclusive to MY14 only.

Can you list what parts you used and where you tapped for the power for this. I like this much better than the factory light on the Lariat and above.
Heres some pics for reference...

Leds are under the lip of the front and back of console. So theyre out of sight...

On a serious note. A simple solution would be a battery powered light that uses a float switch stuck to the lid. My pops uses these on his goldwings and I have one stuck in one of my leather saddlebags on my VTX... When tilted at the right angle (open) the light turns on and shines down into the lid.
A not so simple solution is to run a constant 12v line, and have the ground activated by a plunger.

I thought about installing a Usb powered light similar to one in link below.

Zipped over to REI yesterday after seeing Matt's post. The Goal Zero Luna has no switch, meaning it's on when the USB ports have power and off 20 seconds after opening a door, if engine remains off. Exactly what I wanted. The unit is as thin as a pencil, tucks neatly under the passenger-side lip of of the console, and the flex neck holds it in place easily. Puts out just the right amount of light.
For those with the flow-thru console with USB ports who want extra light, this is a great way to go. $10 pnp mod! Thanks for that post, Matt!

Here's an interesting option. Lots of very nice products:
