Default 2010 F150 STX mod questions

Hey guys, I just got my truck 2 days ago and I love it! 2010 STX 4x4 supercab.

I have installed a temp rear-view camera and would like to do some other things. On the windshield I currently have 3 things - rear-view screen, sirius removable stereo and garmin gps. All are powered by 12v cig adapters. I would like for a way to clean everything up. Eventually I will buy a stereo replacement that can be used as a camera screen and has the sirius built in. But for now I'd like a way to use a wire-tap or wire to fuse-box, set so that when the car turns off there is no power to the units.

I am curious what this wire is for in the top of the dash, it doesn't seem to go to anything, is it 12v and can I use it to power my GPS and rear-view camera and sirius ?

Does anyone have any pics on custom brackets used to hold their gps, satellite radios or cb radio's ?

I dont know if there is power running to the wires but the wires would hook up to the light sensor for the auto-lamp option. The piece that the wires are hooked to is just a blank. I bought the sensor and auto-lamp switch for my STX and now I have the auto-lamp feature. If nothing else its a whole in the dash to run the wires through.

That connector plugs into the sensor if you have the automatic headlights.

I would run the wires into that hole, then run to the fuse panel. I have used fuse taps to power sat radio, radar, etc.... Helps to clean up all those plugs on the dash! Hope you enjoy the truck! I've got the same one and love it

My Garmin GPS is tapped into fuse 41 on the fuse panal on the passenger side. I used a fuse piggy back and ran the power wire behind the dash. From there it is hooked up to a spare cigarette lighter socket from Radioshack. I used the auto charger and plugged into this outlet that is zip tied behind the kick panel under the steering wheel. The wire end that hooks up to the GPS was routed behind the plastic A-pillar. From there I just used the suction cup mount and mounted the GPS in the upper right corner of my windshield and it is all powered. The beauty part of this install is that the GPS turns on and off with the truck. I hope this helps and I will try and find some install pics that others have done just like this. This is exactly what I did but my GPS is on the upper part of the windshield. As for your other goodies I got no ideas. I guess you can do the same thing just find more fuses to tap into or create your own fuse panel to use. Hope it helps.

Dean

I realize that but A.) I don't always use the GPS so it might be stored in my center consol. B.) I paid less that $90 for my Garmin nuvi 255w so if it dies I go buy a new one. Thats why I didn't pay $300+ for one with all the bells and whistles. I just need directions every so often and this works better than my iPhone.

I hear ya. I will probably end up with a Garmin or comparable system.
