Default Replacement exhaust

I have a 2013 lariat 5.0 supercrew. I would like to replace the stock exhaust with something that sounds better, but don't want to put an exhaust system on that corrodes out and needs replaced every two years. I want the exhaust to be a mellow growl, not something that drowns out conversation in the cab or the radio. Any suggestions for a durable, long life exhaust that really sounds good. I am 63 years old so do not need something as loud as I did when I was a young pup.

I was in the same boat because I travel a lot and didn't want the loud noise in cab and I went with a magnaflow 22 si/do and I love it, quiet enough when going slow and then when you step on it the beast comes out. Also magnaflow is 100% stainless steel.

I have the 5.4 and I just cut my muffler out it a pice of pipe welded to replace the gap and Added a chrome tip sounds real nice not to loud and good. My best bet would be YouTube look at trucks that have the 5.0 and try and find a sound that best suits you good luck

Another vote for Magnaflow. What he said about the noise level. I have a cat back si/so (single pass. side rear exit)-like it a lot.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like Magnaflow is the answer.

Whatever you end up buying, I'd recommend going with 304 stainless. 409 stainless will get surface rust and look like crap after a short time. Here in the SW aluminized works well too but probably would have a short life in the rust belt.

I live in Pennsylvania and totally agree with going 304 stainless, like borla, or full race. I had two magnaflow systems on my 2009 f150. First a single which rusted after 4 months of winter, and I mean it looked like crap. Except for tip and muffler which were 304 stainless, but magnaflow uses 409 for piping and it rusted fast. Looked like it was 10 years old. I thought i just got a bad exhaust and then bought there dual system which started to rust just as quick. If looks dont bother you, go with magnaflow, it sounded awesome but looked like crap. I also washed all salt off my truck all the time in winter and it still rusted.

Magnaflows single side exit catback after 4 months of pa winter. In my opinion if you dont have winter go with magnaflow, but if you do go 304 stainless.

As @Watt-maker & @blu13fx4 said 304 stainless is the way to go espicially if you have harsh winters with salted roads. You get what you pay for some systems may only have 304 stainless tips & muffler but 304 stainless across the board is limited to few companies like Borla. A good indication is how long their warranty's are. If they say 3 year limited warranty or the like expect it to rust out.

I've got sound clips of my 5.0 with a Borla catback system if you want a link to hear it, let me know. (It's probably to loud for you but they have 2 more less aggressive systems then mine)

Borla also has YouTube video of all three exhausts on 5.0 f150, there touring version is there least aggressive, while the attack is most aggressive. But the attack sounds so bad ***.
