I need to remove the tailgate on my 2011 Ecoboost with the backup camera.

I followed the cable from the tailgate to where it connects under the truck and the dealer told me it just unhooks ....I tried to separate the connection - but it seemed very tight. Didn't want to overdo it and bust something or my knuckles

Anyone have experience with this?

i haven't done it but i saw it in the owners manual. the connection should be pretty accesable and you have to do it before you try and the tailgate off.

...and there should of been a plastic cap in the glovebox or console to cap off the connector is you are leaving the tailgate off for a while.

The connector will be a locking one. Typically you have to either push in on the tab on one side or lift up on a clip with a small screwdriver. You should see a channel on one side and can determine the lock type.
