Default Remote starter

Hi everyone, I have a 2009 FX4 SCREW with a 5.4l and am thinking about adding a remote starter system. Has anyone done so? If you have any suggestions about what would work best and what to stay away from any/all responses are appreciated!

Cheers, Scott

The longer range is always better, and a two way page back system that let's you know if it started or not is a must.

I have a 2002 King Ranch. FORD does NOT (according to my local dealer), have a "factory remote start" system on the market.

I got a VIPER with the remote start. It has the two way page system on it. It's supposed to have a 2,000 foot range. SO, far it works fine. I had it installed by a business that ONLY installs remotes, NOT a BOX STORE.

Ford does have a bi-directional long- range remote for the F150. Part number is BB5Z-19G364-C, series 200, if you want the one with security module. Do not know the part number for the one without security. I have this installed on my '13 f150 now and had one on my 'f250. Works nowhere fom 200 - 900 feet away. You can either order from a dealer who will charge you $355 for it or online with partsguyed or under $300. Super easy to install. Dealer will have to activate the module if you don't have remote start now?

Here is a forum link for install of this. There is also a great YouTube video showing how to install in 15 min on f150.

I had an OEM remote start added when I bought my 12 and will more then likely be removing it and adding a Viper or another aftermarket remote start. The OEM one works well....from 15 feet away and only one of the two fobs works consistently.

I want to be able to start it from my office or inside the house and have it warmed up or cooled off by time I get to it and the factory one doesn't have anywhere near the range it says it does. I've taken it in twice now and they tested it and said it's fine but still doesn't work as promised.

200 to 900 feet is not long range. Aftermarket ones have up to a mile range which is 5280 feet. Being inside buildings severely diminishes range which makes factory starters worthless until you go outside.

Thanks for the comments, I think I will be trying the aftermarket route!
