Default Remote start retrofit

I want to retrofit a remote start set up from Ford into my 12 F150 xlt. I just want to get the kit from factory ford that includes two new keys/key fobs with the remote start button.

I Can and would install it all myself. The problem comes in the required flash and the fact that there are no dealerships anywhere around me that I trust. I have been screwed over at all of them. And they always find a way to break something if I take it in there for even the most minute service.

Is there any way around this flash? Something after market? Email tune? I have a SCT Livewire TS but I'm sure it isn't able to go that deep in the tune....

Unfortunately there is no way to get around the activation, you have to use IDS to do it. Are you near New Orleans? if so shoot me a pm, I can activate it for you for $50.00

I appreciate that very much. Unfortunately I'm in Montana. Middle of nowhere.

They're gonna hate me at the dealership for insisting I stay and watch them the whole time but sounds like my only option. The horror stories I could tell....

Edit:

Is there a reasonably priced option for the IDS? Or is it a dealership only thing? I would seriously spend a couple hundred on some kind of diagnostics tool to avoid these crooks. Obviously I can't spend 1000+...

This is what I have, it's the most basic system as you provide your own laptop to use it with. https://rotunda.service-solutions.co...?SKU=164-R9805

You also have to buy a license and that's $700 alone for 1 year. http://www.motorcraftservice.com/vdi...il_renewal.asp

They sell a Chinese clone on ebay (search VCMII) others that have tried them say they work and you don't have to pay for a license to use it for a couple hundred, I found out about them after I bought mine.

Also note the clone can't be updated so it will be limited use, whether or not you can use it to activate I can't say but logic would say yes.

The cost of the IDS itself isn't bad at all. But the 700 dollar license is too rich for my blood. For this vehicle anyway. I have 2 different tuning devices for my car that give me full control. But that's a toy. My pickup is for practical use...

I'm a little scared of going the Chinese route you mentioned. A few hundred is quite a bit for a maybe. I'll do some research. Thanks! Again!

The genuine IDS VCMII is $1,500.00. The Chinese clone is the sub $200.00 device.

One of the 1st mods I did to my truck was the remote start and even though I had just spent 30 grand on a new truck they still charged me $90 to have it activated, so I bought one.
